This facade was designed in the manner of Gio Ponti for a fictional exhibition in
1940, highlighting the Strada Novissima as a return to the street and as a formative
element of the city. Using elements from Ponti’s early houses as a starting point, such
as the Laporte House in Via Benedetto Brin (1935-6), the façade uses screens, layering
and hints of color to look forward to his future work. The Taranto Cathedral, one of
his defining buildings in the 1970s, is used as the back screen of the facade.
