About

A licensed architect in the United States, Kay Yang received her M.Arch from the Yale School of Architecture, and holds a Bachelor of Arts from UC Berkeley with minors in City Planning and Sustainable Design. At Yale, she was a teaching fellow for the Fourth Year Undergraduate Design Studio, the First Year Graduate Building Project II course, and worked as the school photographer. Both of her final studio projects were nominated for the Feldman Prize, demonstrating the best solution to an architectural problem in her respective advanced studios. Upon graduation she was awarded the William Edward Parsons Memorial Medal, presented to the student who showed the greatest professional promise in the area of urban design and planning.
Kay has lived in Manila, Berkeley, Copenhagen, and New Haven, and has extensive experience as an architectural designer in Singapore, San Francisco and Shanghai. Her designs involve context driven methodologies that engage with daily life and the lived experience. This stems from her interests in adaptive reuse, small-scale housing, and postcolonial anthropology.

Currently, Kay is the principal architect of her own practice in the Philippines. She oversees a range of architectural and interior design projects from conception to execution; her current breadth of projects include residential design, hospitality, and corporate interiors.
